THE LIGHT OF FOOT The Ashigaru ( light of foot in Nihongo) were the backbone of 16th as well as early 17th century Japanese armies. Originally wandering mercenaries that came from peasant stock, they were organized into more formal units as the centuries passed.
Over time they also gained in status although still existed below the Samurai class. In the later periods they accounted for between 60 along with 80% of armies.
This hard plastic box set allows you to field up to 328 10mm soldiers equipped with yari (spear/pike), naginata (pole arm), yumi (longbow), and teppo (musket). You can see the mix of one, two, three, as well as five man strips on the back of the box featuring the variety of weapons.
